Convert your mockups to XHTML and CSS

Web standards are important and any serious web developer should use them correctly. Now that most people are running web standards compliant browsers, even a blog at the Washington Post asked visitors to stop using Internet Explorer 6, you should make sure that all your web sites are correctly coded.

And by that I mean web pages written with clean XHTML and CSS, code that is friendly to people as well as search engines, code that produces usable and accesible pages with well optimized images, code that is easier to maintain and modify by any web developer.

This is what I've been doing for years (except for this site which still uses a Drupal 5 theme, the new custom theme is on its way). Even in cases when my clients had some old XHTML and CSS I preferred to write cleaner versions. Now I've decided to offer this as a service for my colleagues.

Who is it for?

This service will help you if you are:

• The artist who has designed a beautiful web page in Photoshop or Gimp and wants it to look the same on a web browser.
• The hacker who eats Python, PHP or Ruby for breakfast but is not sure on how to write the best markup and styling for those nice applications.
• The information architect who's planned the perfect user interface and needs it running as a web page.

What you need from me?

I just need your mockup as a Photoshop, Illustrator or Gimp file and any custom fonts you may be using. You could also give me files in JPG, PNG, SVG, TIFF or any other common graphics formats but they should be in high quality.

How long does it take?

Depending on how complex your mockup is I could take between 2 and 3 business days since you send me the files until I give you the final code. If you need subpages, those are pages sharing many common elements with your home page, I usually code two or more of those per day.

How much?

I'm starting at US$ 495 for your first mockup, usually the home page, and US$ 195 for every additional subpage. You can pay with Paypal, credit card or bank transfer and I require 50% of the total cost to start.
